Citizen’s Police Academy

The Citizen Police Academy focuses on the internal values, philosophy, and operations of the Paris Police Department. Designed for citizens, the academy educates participants about the Paris Police Department with an overview of law enforcement in general.

A wide variety of topics are included in the Citizens Police Academy. Patrol operations, criminal investigations, internal affairs, discipline, drug enforcement, and other topics are covered in the program. Participants will also receive and orientation in firearms, and will ride with a police officer on patrol.

The 1st Citizen’s Police Academy was held in February of 2002 with approximately 18 participants. This year the 11th class was held with 20 participants.

It was started to help the citizens of Paris and Bourbon County understand the daily operations of the Police Department. The Academy runs 8 to 9 weeks and the classes are taught by members from the Paris Police Department.

The CPAAA was formed, to bring graduates of the CPA Classes together to generate or enhance a relationship between the community and the Paris Police Department, and to assist when citizen’s input or help is needed.

Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at the Paris Police Department at 7:00 p.m. Membership is open to all members of the CPA Classes.

If you are a member of one of the CPA Classes, we encourage you to attend and be a part of this Alumni Association.
